SOMEWHERE IN THE TRI-STATE AREA, U.S.A.–After a not-so impressive regular season of predictions, a record of 17-27, my playoff predictions have improved greatly; with a record of 6-4. But, now the big game is among us… The Super Bowl. Super Bowl XVLIII has the recipe for one of the greatest Super Bowl match-ups of all-time. This wintry, snowy, Championship Game features the AFC Champion Denver Broncos, the NFL’s top offense and the NFC Champion Seattle Seahawks, the NFL’s top defense.
How the Denver Broncos win: Air it out! Denver has the greatest quarterback to grace this earth on their team. Use him! Sure, Seattle has stud cornerback Richard Sherman on their roster, but he only plays on the left side. The Broncos have five viable receiving targets for Peyton Manning to throw to. It’s impossible for Sherman to cover Denver’s trio of wide receivers Demaryius Thomas, Wes Welker, Eric Decker, tight end Julius Thomas, and running back Knowshon Moreno all at once. Seattle’s secondary is good but not that good. The Broncos are having one of the best offensive seasons in NFL history, that might be too much to stop, even for the Seahawks. If Peyton can spread the box out through the air and hand the ball off to Moreno every once and a while, the Broncos should march to victory. Denver is definitely the favorite in this match-up.
How the Seahawks win: Ride running back Marshawn Lynch to victory. Aside from Minnesota’s Adrian Peterson, Lynch might be the best running back in the NFL. Russell Wilson has struggled this post season. If Seattle wants to pull off this upset, Lynch must have a big game, lightening the load for Wilson. The x-factor for Seattle is wide receiver Percy Harvin. Because of injury, Harvin has hardly played this season, which means Denver doesn’t have much film on the shifty playmaker. Seattle needs to use Harvin to the best of his abilities Sunday, giving Russell Wilson another weapon on offense. On the defensive side, Seattle must rush Manning. Peyton isn’t the most mobile quarterback, so if the Seahawks can get after Peyton, they’ll have a shot to pull this thing off.
Who wins: Denver’s offense is too talented for Seattle. Believe it or not, this game may not be as close as everyone thinks. Yeah, Seattle’s defense is great, but Denver’s isn’t have bad either. Denver: 38-20
