Youth Rugby Report: Niagra Flag Rugby

NEW YORK, NY – We  cover all rugby here and try to keep up with the YRS (Youth Rugby Scene) by having teams report in… But that doesn’t mean we’re just sitting on our hands waiting. Here’s an update:

Report: Niagara Flag Rugby finished the season with some exciting play from the boys and girls at the Grimsby Rugby Club. The Boardmaster Sawmill Flag Rugby Championships were contested in the Grade 3 to 5 and the Grade 6 to 8 divisions. The Junior Kindergarten to grade 2 division all played games and received participation ribbons.

Niagara Flag League 3

In the grade 3 to 5 division, Niagara Falls Narnia Rapids took the crown with a clean sweep of the tournament. They defeated St. Catharines 12-3, Grimsby 12-6, Niagara Falls Royal Blue Wasps 9-8 and Fort Erie 7-6. This is the third year in a row that a Niagara Falls team won the tournament. Fort Erie took second place and Niagara Falls Royal Blue Wasps took third.

In the grade 6 to 8 division, Fort Erie won the tournament with wins over Niagara Falls Sky Blue, Niagara Falls Royal Blue and St. Catharines. This is Fort Erie’s first-ever championship. Niagara Falls Sky Blue took silver and Niagara Falls Royal Blue took the bronze.
