AUSTIN, TX (May 19, 2016). The Austin Huns Rugby Club is pleased to announce Eugene Eloff as the new Head Coach.

The former U19 Springbok Head Coach, and Super Rugby Lions Head Coach has much to offer to the Austin Huns. Eugene Eloff is well known to be able to transform young potential players into international athletes.

With over 16 years of experience coaching rugby on some of the highest levels possible, The Austin Huns believe that Eugene will bring an invaluable skill-set and vast knowledge of the game to our club. Hailing from South Africa, Eugene has been immersed in the culture of rugby his entire life, attained the highest level of IRB Coaching, and shows an unrivaled passion for the sport.

I’m really excited by this new challenge, I really like to be at the beginning of a new adventure. USA has the potential to become one of the most successful rugby nations, and having the opportunity to bring my knowledge here will be fantastic. I’m looking forward to working with the Huns Management, and all of The Austin Huns volunteer coaches to help them grow the club and sport.” – Eugene Eloff

Huns RugbyNotable rugby accomplishments include leading the U-19 South African Springbok team to world championship victories twice in three years (2003/2005)…beating New Zealand in the finals both times, a feat not easily attained. He has produced over 10 South African National players, who all speak very highly of him,

His ability to connect with young players and unearth their true potential made him stand out from other coaches. Loffie became more than just a coach, he became a mentor and confidant. Loffie played a valuable part in the foundation that was laid for me to go on and achieve bigger things.” – Bryan Habana

Working with Loffie will help not only the professional side, but he will also work closely with The Huns Management to aid the academy, developmental team, and youth rugby program.

Having a world class coach is an amazing opportunity for our players and club. We are attempting to build a path from the youth to the highest level with a clear vision, and we are looking to work closely with USA Rugby to offer an option for Eagles and future Eagles to have the best club platform possible. We want to create coaching clinics with Eugene for our Huns Coaches, but also for any other coaches that want to continue to learn.“- Richard Osborn Owner HRM.

Well done on acquiring Loffie he is a good man. Loffie’s teams have always played with an attacking intent aligned with passion and effort. He loves the game, his people, and likes to learn” – USA Eagles Head Coach John Mitchell

I have worked with Loffie in South Africa, and I know he is capable of bringing The Huns from an amateur club to a professional one. His structure, vision, and knowledge of the game will definitely challenge the players. He is gifted in finding, and working with young talent to get the best out them.“- Todd Clever USA Eagles Captain and Huns Ambassador

Loffie Eloff HunsThe club is working with Loffie right now to recruit a staff around him to help succeed in this new challenge, structure is key, and having a full team dedicated to work with him will help everyone to achieve our goals. In the coming weeks, we will announce a forward coach, a back coach, and a strength and conditioning coach to complete the team.

Huns Rugby would like to thank our current head coach, and lifetime member, Kirk Tate, for his tremendous work over the past years. The club wouldn’t be where we are today without him having been behind us.

The Austin Huns are very excited to have Eugene join our club, and look forward to the coming season of rugby with him!
