TAMPA, FL – The Tampa Mayhem will host the Atlanta Rhinos Saturday, 30 July in the regular season finale for both teams. This game between two Southern Conference (SC) USA Rugby League (USARL) clubs, which kicks off at 5 p.m., will take place at Tampa Catholic High School, which serves as the home field for the Mayhem.
The Tampa Mayhem, currently 3-2-0, and ranked second in the SC USARL, have a chance to secure its first winning regular season with a victory over Atlanta.
The Atlanta Rhinos, at 1-3-1, and ranked third in the SC USARL, have the chance to secure a second win for 2016, and end the pre-playoff portion of the 2016 USARL Season with a victory.
RWU speaks with Tampa’s Billy Nielsen about Saturday’s game against Atlanta
Rugby Wrap Up (RWU) had the opportunity on Thursday afternoon to speak with Tampa Mayhem Assistant Coach Billy Nielsen about Tampa’s readiness for Saturday’s game against the Atlanta Rhinos:
Nielsen: “The boys are well-rested after the bye week last Saturday, and we are looking to finishing up the regular season with a win in front of the home crowd.”
2016 USARL Playoffs begin Saturday 06 August
The following Saturday, 06 August, marks the start of the 2016 USARL Playoffs. The Mayhem have secured home-field advantage for the first round of games, earning the second seed in the SC USARL.
Assuming the Jacksonville Axemen, who host the Central Florida Warriors this Saturday come away with the win (which is not a given), Atlanta is assured the number three seed, setting the stage for a Mayhem-Rhinos rematch the following Saturday.
