LONDON, ENGLAND – Premiership Rugby can confirm that tomorrow’s Gallagher Premiership Rugby match between Gloucester Rugby and Northampton Saints has been cancelled.
Northampton Saints informed Premiership Rugby on Friday that they had insufficient front row players to start the match. The situation was created as a result of a large number of positive COVID-19 tests [16 positive] at Sale Sharks, following the Gallagher Premiership Rugby match between the two sides last Tuesday evening.
Following the completion of the Track and Trace Audit, a number of the Northampton Saints playing squad are now self-isolating, in accordance with Public Health England guidance.
In accordance with Premiership Rugby regulations the match has been awarded as a 20-0 victory to Gloucester Rugby, with Gloucester Rugby been awarded five league points and Northampton Saints zero.
While you’re here, have a look at our weekly studio show, beginning with this week’s tough talk with USA Rugby CEO Ross Young.
NEW YORK, NY – Historically speaking, there hasn’t been a worse year for USA Rugby since its inception. The man left standing after a Chapter 11 filing and the crushing effects of #COVID-19, CEO Ross Young, answers the hard questions from Matt McCarthy and Steve Lewis re three main topics:
- Bankruptcy: Why did it happen and why won’t it happen again at year’s end?
- Racism in Rugby: What is USA Rugby doing to re diversity and exposure?
- Rugby World Cup 2027: Is the American Dream of a Rugby World Cup a reality?
NEW YORK, NY – Last week three black men offered their views on racism in and and away from rugby. This week, we get the female perspective from three USA Rugby pillars, Phaidra Knight, Alycia Washington & Naya Tapper. Their conversation with Steve Lewis & Matt McCarthy is sometimes awkward and even testy… which is a necessary component of moving forward. This extended Community Corner segment, courtesy of The Murphy Kennedy Group, is worth your time.
There is no time like the present for candid, if awkward, conversations about racism, perceptions and the narrowing of the divide(s) that are cause for protests, boycotts and violence here in America, and abroad. Rugby United NY, Old Blue & Roots star, Derek Lipscomb, joins New York Rugby’s David Flemister and Junior Blaber in a sometimes uncomfortable conversation with Matt McCarthy re their experiences, hopes and calls for action.
Don’t let the length keep you from watching/listening. It moves quickly.
