NFL Predictions For Rugby Fans

After an impressive Week 1 of NFL picks, in which I was 9 seconds away from a clean sweep on the opening weekend, I ended up with a record of 2-1 after the first weekend. Time to increase the my winning percentage even higher than 67%, where it currently stands.

Aaron Rodgers will be the defining factor to why the Packers come out on top.

Washington Redskins (0-1) at Green Bay Packer (0-1): If you’ve been watching ESPN a lot this past week, you’ve heard a percentage time and time again; 12%. Since the playoff format expanded to 12 teams in 1999, the percent of teams that reach the playoffs after starting out 0-2 is 12%. That’s sort of scary if you think about it.

Both Washington and Green Bay were playoff teams last year. If they want to reach the playoffs again this season, than they better do all they can to win this game.

After Robert Griffin III’s performance Week 1, I’m still not sold on the Redskins. The Packers’ defense is much more difficult than Philadelphia’s. Packers: 27-20

Denver Broncos (1-0) at New York Giants (0-1): It’s Manning Bowl Part III. To this point Peyton’s teams have dominated the series, and I expect that to continue. Peyton is working with the most dangerous weapons of his career with Wes Welker and Co.

The Giants had a tough time handling Dallas’ Tony Romo, who is a couple ladder rungs behind Peyton. I expect the Broncos’ offense to put on a clinic verse a defense that is hurting due to injuries in the secondary. If Eli wants any shot, he cannot turn the ball over. That goes for running back David Wilson too.  Broncos: 42-20

San Francisco 49ers (1-0) at Seattle Seahawks (1-0): This is a battle of two of the best teams in the NFC and NFC West. The quarterback duo of San Fran’s Colin Kaepernick and Seattle’s Russell Wilson have brought a lot of hype in to this match-up. From Madden to their wager on the outcome, there’s a lot of excitement riding on this game.

Kaep surprised me last week with his efforts through the air. Which was something I wanted to see from him. While the 49ers put an impressive game together last weekend against the Packers, you could hardly say the same for the Seahawks, who struggled against the Carolina Panthers.

I give the edge to the 49ers because of their offense. 49ers: 28-24
