NFL To Rugby 7s: Reggie Bush

NEW YORK, NY  – Continuing our hypothetical NFL To Rugby 7s series, we’ve got the dynamic running back Reggie Bush, who is facing free agency in March. How great would it be if he should turn his attention to the rugby pitch? Granted, the chances are nil but it’s fun to imagine, so let’s examine and analyze what Bush could bring to Rugby 7s.

Do you think Reggie Bush could play in Rugby 7s?
Do you think Reggie Bush could play in Rugby 7s?

Reggie Bush (New Position: Fly-Half) The former Miami Dolphin is one of the more exciting players in the game. Bush was a Heisman Trophy winner in college at University at Southern California (which was eventually taken away due to eligibility sanctions after Bush left the school.) Bush, along with USC quarterback Matt Leinart, led the Trojans to a National Championship in 2004… which was also taken away due to sanctions. Those damn sanctions! But aside from all that trouble Bush was involved in at USC, he still is known as one of the most electrifying players to ever play in the college ranks.

From a rugby perspective… Bush has prototypical size for a big Rugby 7s fly-half – at 6 ft. 200 lbs. Bush also has quick feet and is very elusive when he has the ball in his hands. Good vision is one part of Bush’s game that set’s him a part of a lot of the other running backs in the NFL because he is a smaller back. Good visions is something that would make Bush a good fly-half in Rugby 7s. Not to mention Bush has sub 4.4 40-yd dash speed. Someone with speed like that would be very tough to catch on the pitch!

What do you think?
