PHILADELPHIA, PA – A good tournament deserves more than just an MVP, so in reflecting on last weekend’s 2015 Penn Mutual CRC action, and in the spirit of the World Rugby Sevens tournament teams, here is my 2015 CRC Dream Team:

Calvin Johnson, Air Force
Calvin Johnson Air Force Rugby

Jack McCauliffe, Navy
Jack McCauliffe

Niku Kruger, Kutztown
Niku Kruger

Conner Mooneyham, Life
Conor Mooneyham

Alex Goff (not the rugby pundit!), Arkansas State
alex-goff Arkansas State

Dante Weeks, Arizona

Jake Anderson, Cal (official MVP)
Jake Anderson Cal
One goal was to go for a team that was balanced and had a mix of skills. Different players filled different roles for their teams over the course of the weekend, but the players above could actually play together and function as a unit.

For a squad of 12, I add in these players:

Jared Bosma, Michigan

Blane McIlroy, Life

Dakota Raymond, Navy

Robert Stortz, Kutztown

Andrew Battaglia, Cal

These are the players that made the most positive impact for their sides last weekend.  This list is only from the main bracket of the CRC, but there was also a lot of talent on show in the NSCRO division.

And finally, hats off to Cal

About Jake Frechette 125 Articles
Jake Frechette lives outside of Philly, where he is engrossed enough in rugby that he sometimes forgets that when he talks about the Eagles, most people assume he means the NFL flock. He once played both tight head and inside center in the same game, which shows that he is strong, handsome and has nice hair. One of the things he finds most enjoyable in the rugby world is that Andrew Hore is a Hooker and he can't wait until his sons are old enough to giggle at that one with him.
