getting cut by the San Francisco 49ers 53-man active roster and resigned onto the practice squad, it seems that the National Rugby League is still an option for the dual-sport athlete.

According to the Sydney Morning Harold, Parramatta Eels captain Tim Mannah would welcome back his former teammate with welcome arms.

“I’m just like everyone else wishing the best for him, hoping he gets back in the team and gets some minutes there,” Mannah said, via smh.com.au. “I don’t think the NRL is the first thing on his mind at the moment.
“He wants to get some things done in his life and in his career, and I think he is still hungry, and I am pretty sure he will succeed in what he does. He will be back and he will find a role for himself over there.”

Hayne 2According to the article written by James MacSmith, Mannah still talks to Hayne regularly.

Mannah believes that if and when Hayne returns, it won’t be for sometime because the rugger wants to succeed in the NFL.

“I can’t see it happening in the near future,” Mannah said. “I’m not Jarryd so I can’t make his decisions for him but I think he is a very driven bloke, he has a point to prove over there and I don’t know that he is coming back any time soon.”

While Hayne is on the practice squad for now, don’t be surprised if he’s there for long.

The 49ers’ backfield is currently a revolving door and considering Hayne knows the playbook better than any free agent option, chances or good he could have his named called again sometime this season.
