Every week, England 7s star Mathew Drew Turner takes on the role of brazen, if not cheeky, reporter for RWU.
CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA – Happy New Year everybody! I hope everyone’s New Year’s Eve was as good as mine and that everyone is going to be able to do what they said they re going to do. 🙂
So, I hear its meant to be the end of the world this year. Personally, I don’t believe it. There is more chance of Declan Yeats to break 16sec for the 100m or Johnathan Wicklow Barberie to go a week without a black eye. Also, who is Lori Levine? She’s up on her sports as well as having those… assets? RWU needs to steal her from MeetTheMatts.com! Challenge accepted.
Back to rugby…
With the next two tournies now a month away here are my predictions.
Fiji – Will be back to the form they showed in Gold Coast. They suffered roughly 5 injuries over the first three tourneys and having that many changes in a team can’t help. So, with this little break now, I’m sure they ve got the new players in the know of all their positions.
New Zealand – They will be the force that they are always. Especially playing in their home country. It’s never easy to beat NZ in NZ.
South Africa – They were very unlucky not to win in Port Elizabeth, losing in the final play of the game. With Cecil Afrika back, they look like a completely different team. So, they’re a team to be watched.
England – We had a slow start to the season, but we will be getting better and better as we go along. Personally, I’ll be wanting another England vs New Zealand final in Wellington. We owe them one there.
Wales/ France – With both these teams, you never know what’s going to happen when they play any team. Either one of these teams could make it into the Quarters or one better; the Semis.
Okay… These are my views for the Wellington and Las Vegas and I’m open to any discussion about them. Anyone going to be at the Wellington Sevens?
