TAMPA BAY, FL – The Tampa Mayhem, Tampa’s USA Rugby League (USARL) Club, is traveling to Jacksonville Saturday to take on that city’s USARL Club, the Jacksonville Axemen. The match is set for Saturday, 18 June, with kickoff time at 5:30 p.m. The University of North Florida (UNF) Soccer Fields — 1 UNF Drive, Jacksonville, Fla. 32224 — serve as the venue for Saturday’s game.
Both the Tampa and Jacksonville started their 2016 Seasons last Saturday with wins over fellow Southeastern Division (SE) USARL clubs. The Mayhem defeated the Central Florida Warriors 24-16, while the Axemen defeated the Atlanta Rhinos 32-22. This match will determine which SE USARL Club remains the last unbeaten team.
Mayhem forward Patrick Reive discuss Tampa’s preparations for Saturday’s match
Mayhem forward Patrick Reive, who won Man of the Match honors last weekend after Tampa’s win over the Warriors, had the following to say about Tampa’s preparations for Saturday’s match:
We can certainly take a lot of positives from the [Central Florida] game. As a unit we tackled well, and were able to move the ball considering how wet it was. However, there are always improvements to be made, and our coaches worked with us this week to better prepare us for the Axemen game in Jacksonville this Saturday.
Axemen announce major addition to club roster prior to Mayhem match
Meanwhile, the Axemen announced a major addition to their club’s roster prior to Saturday’s match against the Mayhem:
This week, the Axemen welcomed Ryan “Ryno” O’Hara to the lineup. Ryno’s rugby league rap sheet, so to speak, is one of the longest and highest caliber we [Jacksonville Axemen] have ever seen. He’s played in such comps as the NRL under the banner of the Canberra Raiders as well as the world famous State of Origin Series, playing for New South Wales, Australia.
