USA Rugby Press Release
MADRID, SPAIN – On Sunday, Perry Baker suffered a lower leg injury in the USA’s pool match against Kenya at Madrid Sevens.
The speedster will fly home in the next 24 hours to be fully assessed where a determination will be made on his need for surgery and additional treatment. His return to play timeline will be communicated in the coming weeks. Out of respect for athlete privacy, USA Rugby does not provide details regarding the exact scope and nature of player injuries.
“Thank you for all the support. Much appreciated from myself and my family,” said Baker. Head Coach Mike Friday said, “As a pack, we will come together to do all we can to support Perry and bring him back on the pitch.”
Baker has proven his resiliency time and time again and will have a vast network of teammates, staff, medical personnel and family to support his recovery. Messages from USA fans also poured in through the night as the entire community rallies around the 2x Player of the Year.
*Hugs from us here, Perry.
