USA Rugby Press Release via Aalina Tabini
GLENDALE, CO – Nearly two years since they last assembled, the USA Men’s XVs National Team have confirmed two away tests against No. 3 England on July 3 and No. 4 Ireland on July 10. Matches will be played at Twickenham and Aviva Stadium, respectively, with KO times, broadcast details and spectator information to be confirmed.
The No. 16 Eagles are set for a sprint to Rugby World Cup 2023 in France, having not assembled in-person since 2019 in Japan. Head Coach Gary Gold and staff have spent the past year tracking players, leading remote programming and identifying new talent.
After their July tests, the USA men will look ahead to Rugby World Cup qualification matches against Canada and a South American side. Fall test matches should follow suit with all details to be determined in the coming months.
Coach Gold said:
“We could not be more anxious to assemble again as a squad after what has been a long two years since Japan. We have a lot of work to do in order to prepare for Rugby World Cup qualification later this year and it is absolutely vital that we maximize on the limited time we have in this cycle.
“These two fixtures against England and Ireland deliver the quality of competition we need to measure where we are after such a long gap and what we need to rebuild heading into France in 2023.”
Additional details for Men’s Eagles matches will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
