NEW YORK, NY – The number of Kids Playing Rugby on this beautiful planet of ours is growing exponentially. With 7s booming, the Olympics looming and media exposure zooming, it’s not hard to imagine countries like the USA, Russia, Japan, Canada and China being in the mix for Rugby World Cup honors before long… Just don’t count the Kiwis, Aussies, South Africans, English, Welsh, Argentinians, French, Fijians, Tongans and Samoans out just yet…
Anyway, this boom is due largely in part to organizations like the Aviva Premiership Community Board and the likes of Wayne Morris. As the “czar” of youth rugby in England, Wayne has his hands full with programs that keep the kids busy and interested on and and off the pitch. Yet, in the spirit that truly sets rugby apart from other sports, Mr. Morris found time to come to the USA and exchange ideas with Mark Griffin of PlayRugbyUSA.com.
RWU’s Matt McCarthy caught up with Wayne during that visit. And yes, that’s Prince Harry playing rugby with kids on the beach.
