WASHINGTON, D.C. — Old Glory DC is thrilled to announce the appointment of Agustín “Cuca” Cavalieri as the franchise’s new Head Coach. The former international lock and highly regarded tactical mastermind steps into the role ahead of the 2027 Major League Rugby (MLR) season, bringing a wealth of elite domestic and international development experience to the DMV.
Cavalieri joins Old Glory DC following an impactful tenure with Anthem Rugby Carolina, where he successfully rebuilt the young squad and orchestrated the historic first MLR victory in franchise history. Recognized as an expert in forward play and player pathways, Cavalieri also serves as Head Coach of the USA Eagles U23s and an Assistant Coach (Forwards & Breakdown) for the USA Men’s Eagles National Team, positioning him at the absolute center of American rugby’s development ahead of the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia.
“Cuca led the Dallas Jackals to the 2024 Western Conference Final and delivered Anthem its first victory in club history in 2026. He also brings important experience and perspective from his role as an assistant coach with the USA Men’s Eagles,” said Paul Sheehy, Co-Owner of Old Glory DC. “His passion for his players, his commitment to developing American rugby, and his ability to build a competitive team are clear.
