BOSTON, MA – Last weekend was a rough one for my predictions. I predicted the wrong winner in every game, essentially eliminating the fast start to the season. After 4-2 start, my record is now under .500 at 4-5. I need a big weekend to bounce back and get myself on the right track. Here we go!
Pittsburgh Steelers (0-3) at Minnesota Vikings (0-3): Live from London… It’s the NFL. I don’t quite get how people really think that moving an NFL franchise to London is a smart idea. There is a huge time difference and would be a complete inconvenience for teams to cross The Pond on a weekly basis. Look the idea is nice to have a couple games every season in London, but an actual franchise? That’s a little ridiculous.
But more about the game itself… I’m going with Big Ben playing with Big Ben close by. The Steelers are getting Le’Veon Bell back finally which will give them a major spark on offense. Especially with Adrian Peterson back down to earth running against a good defense. The only thing that the Vikings have going for them is the fact that Christian Ponder isn’t starting this week thanks to a rib injury. Steelers: 27-13
Seattle Seahawks (3-0) at Houston Texans (2-1): The Seahawks aren’t playing at home this weekend which makes this an interesting game. The Texans are a very good team, my AFC Super Bowl rep. and will give these birds a good fight. In fact, I’m going with the upset at home.
A lot of this game rides on the Texans’ injured wide out Andre Johnson. If he can be a threat in this game then tight end Owen Daniels will have a field day and should open up running lanes for Arian Foster. All of this equals to a Texans’ victory in my books. It’ll be a close one, but I think Houston comes out on top. Texans: 31-28
New England Patriots (3-0) at Atlanta Falcons (1-2): What do you know!?! This game also features one of my Super Bowl reps, the Falcons. The Dirty Birds haven’t gotten off to the start they wanted to but that doesn’t mean they’re a bad team.
If Gronk plays in this game, it might be a different outcome, but he probably won’t. I love the Falcons offense this season. Once Steven Jackson comes back from his injury they’ll be in great shape. Falcons’ wide out Roddy White has been battling a nagging high ankle sprain which has kept him from putting up his usually performance. I’m interested to see how Brady and his offense do against a true Super Bowl contender.
