RWU HQ – What did I tell you? Reggie Bush signing with the San Francisco 49ers during free agency was
the best thing that could have happened to Jarryd Hayne.
Sure the signing clogs up the running back position a little bit, but Hayne has his biggest supporter alongside him.
And Bush is at it again. The former Detroit Lions running back came out and said earlier this week, that he believes Hayne will be on the 53-man roster when the regular season starts.
“I’m sure he’ll make it, I don’t think there’s any doubt in anybody’s mind he’ll make the roster,” Bush told The Daily Telegraph of Sydney, according to CSN Bay Area. “He has all the talents and athleticism to be able to play in this league and to be able to play at a high level in this league. I think making the team is actually the least of his worries.”
Those are some strong words from Bush considering Hayne has never played a snap of football in his life and topflight college running backs don’t pan out in the pros everyday.
Not to mention, the NFL is yet to see a true rugby-to-football switch. Sure guys have tried and successfully made rosters, but not one has made a true impact on the league, yet.
The former NRL star certainly has the talent, but can he adapt to the fast paced game of the NFL? And how quick will he be able to pick up the 49ers’ playbook?
These are just a couple of questions Hayne will have to answer in the coming months. It should be fun!
