Tiger Rugby and ARPTC Launch Collaborative Effort for Women's PDP

LITTLE ROCK, AR – In yet another move to give more opportunities to young U.S Rugby players, American Rugby Pro Training Center (ARPTC) and Tiger Rugby have reached a collaborative agreement to clearly define the professional development of women’s rugby players. To that end, the ARPTC facilities in Little Rock, Arkansas will host a summer of residency programs for young promising women’s Tiger players to accelerate their development in a fully professional setting, overseen by former national Coach Julie McCoy. McCoy will be joined by a rotation of Tiger coaches throughout the summer, giving participants full access to the same programming that their male contemporaries enjoy at Tiger Rugby’s home facility in Columbus, Ohio.

“The move to join forces with Tiger is as natural as peanut butter and chocolate,” says Jules McCoy, Director of Rugby at ARPTC, and Head Coach of the Tiger Women’s Program. “We are committed to the development of the whole person, to teach professionalism on and off the field, as is Tiger. We share common values and it only seems fitting to develop our missions side by side.”

James Walker, Tiger director, agrees. “We have been working with Julie and ARPTC for a number of years, sharing resources, winning tournaments together and generally cheering for each other’s success. Unfortunately the development landscape for men and women in this country is very muddy, with groups popping up all over the country with varying degrees of qualification. Bringing Coach McCoy and the ARPTC team into our Professional Player Development Pathway, will certainly be a step to clear up some of that confusion.“

In addition to the summer residency program at the ARPTC, Tiger will also be holding high school camps for boys and girls at the end of July and beginning of August based out of the Little Rock facility. Between all of these programs, as well as the upcoming Tiger Elite camps to held from June 4-8 and June 10-14, at the world class IMG Facility in Bradenton Florida (https://www.tigerrugby.com/high-performance-camps-at-img), Tiger Rugby will be looking to identify the next generation of U.S National Men’s and Women’s players for the current Olympic and World Cup cycles. Identified players can look forward to development opportunities at the likes of the new Tiger Rugby residency camp in Cape Town, South Africa and of course potential access to a spot on the highly coveted global Tiger touring sides.
