USA Rugby Press Release: New Men’s Eagles head coach released from Worcester Warriors, will make first appearance in LA for ARC
WORCESTER, ENGLAND – Early Saturday morning, the Worcester Warriors announced the release of Gary Gold from his current role as Director of Rugby to the Premiership club. While Gold has been well involved with USA Rugby since his appointing in October, he will officially shift to a full-time role as Men’s Eagles head coach, effective January 1st.
“I would like to thank the Club for allowing me to bring my contract to an end at this time to begin my role with the USA in January.” said Gold.
Gold will fill time between now and his USA test debut in Los Angeles for International Rugby Saturday, with camp at the Elite Athlete Training Center in Chula Vista, California and speaking engagements at the National Development Summit in Denver, January 19-21.
As the Men’s Eagles begin their 2018 Americas Rugby Championship campaign at StubHub Center, it will be beneficial for their head coach to have the entirety of his time dedicated to the team and preparation, particularly as the Eagles look to preserve their 2017 championship title. With the ARC standing as the lion-share of the Men’s Eagles 2018 schedule, the team and organization welcome the official commencement of the Gary Gold era.
The 2018 Americas Rugby Championship begins Feb. 3 in Los Angeles against Argentina XV, with ensuing matchups with Canada and Chile in Sacramento and Fullerton, CA. Gold will make his first official USA Rugby appearance at the National Development Summit in Denver, where his is slated to speak.
