NEW YORK, NYRugby United New York is delighted to announce a partnership with Gods Love We Deliver (GLWD).  The partnership comes as the Major League Rugby squad is launching their Pride Jerseys and the announcement that money from each sale will go to GLWD.

The mission of God’s Love We Deliver is to improve the health and well-being of men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other serious illnesses by alleviating hunger and malnutrition. We prepare and deliver nutritious, high-quality, custom-made meals to people who, because of their illness, are unable to provide or prepare meals for themselves. We also provide illness-specific nutrition education and counseling to our clients, families, care providers and other service organizations.

Chris Mattina and Dylan Fawsitt take instruction from Emmett Finley.

GLWD’s Director of Social Communications, Emmett Findley outlined the need for help:

“Our clients are people living with things like multiple sclerosis, cancer, HIV, etc… Our job is to see that they get  the right delicious, medically-nutritious meals, home-delivered right to them. But as you can imagine, #Covid-19 has affected every single part of our operation. Because of social distancing, we’ve had to significantly reduce our volunteer workforce, yet we’re serving more people than ever. The only way for us to do this really crucial work for our neighbors is to do it with the help and love and care of our volunteers, but also with donations. Every dollar makes a difference.

God’s Love We Deliver is a non-profit and non-sectarian organization. All services are provided free to clients without regard to income.

Rugby United New York Co-Owner James Kennedy, after being directed to the charity by Pete Forsman (Xavier HS/NYAC Rugby), has been volunteering at their facility in Soho since the #Covid19 lock-down happened:

“I’ve volunteered in the kitchen, on deliveries and in packaging. I’ve seen firsthand the amazing work GLWD does every day, feeding New Yorkers in need. I will continue to donate my time and hopefully with the jersey sales we can raise money to feed more New Yorkers.”

GLWD currently feeds over 5000 New York and New Jersey residents a day, while also supplying  personal care packages.

GLWD needs volunteers and they need donations. If you can in this difficult times please follow the link here:  https://www.glwd.org
