RUGBY, ENGLAND – NFL training camp has started and since Rugby is the NFL’s daddy, we’re up for this week’s dose of football at RWU! So, while I’m feeling too big for my britches, here are my 4 Bold NFL Predictions for the upcoming season:
1) The New England Patriots will not win the AFC East. As Buffalo Bills wide out Stevie Johnson told me himself, “I can feel that shift happening in our division.” And I believe him! Will it be the Bills? As a Buffalo die-hard, I’d like to think so – but I could be wrong. It won’t be the Jets, however… Look for Buffalo or the Miami Dolphins to steal steal the division from New England. The Patriots have lost a lot of power on their offense and their defense isn’t that impressive to begin with. Tom Brady can’t do it all ladies and gentlemen.
2) It’s time for these Dirtybirds to SOAR! The Atlanta Falcons took a giant step last season when they won their first playoff game with the Matt Ryan and Mike Smith leading the way. The Falcons only got better on offense when they added free agent running back Steven Jackson and didn’t get worse on defense. This offense may be the best in the history of the NFL and one that will take the league by storm.
3) One of our Ruggers turned Ballers will play a key role for their team. Between Jets tight end Hayden Smith, San Francisco defensive lineman Lawrence Okoye, and Patriots special teamer Nate Ebner, one of these guys will make a splash. Ebner and Smith are in their second year in the league so they would be the savvy pick to say one of them will make the splash. However I want to go with the rookie. Okoye is a world class athlete and has freakish athleticism. Watch out for this man!
4) The Philadelphia Eagles will win the NFC East behind Mike Vick. The NFC East is WIDE OPEN. Every team in the division has a shot at the crown, though I give the team with the least best shot to Dallas. The Eagles will have a high octane offense lead by former Oregon head coach Chip Kelly. Teams won’t quite no how to react to the fast pace and will have trouble keeping up. Oh and by the way, Mike Vick wins Comeback Player of the Year.
