BUFFALO, NY – After a week’s hiatus/suspension, yours humbly is back from RWU Management-imposed exile with a fresh start… and stellar NFL Picks For Rugby Fans! Hopefully, I’ve regained my prediction-making mojo and can improve my pathetic 4-14 record. Here we go!
Dallas Cowboys (4-3) at Detroit Lions (4-3): There has been a lot of talk involving these two teams the past few days. Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant is comparing himself to Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson and to top it off Cowboys senior vice president Stephen Jones is comparing quarterback Tony Romo to NBA Superstar LeBron James.
“You look at just the history of athletes in general, whether it is a LeBron James or anybody, there’s a lot of criticism until you put those championship rings on their fingers,” Jones told SiriusXM NFL Radio. “I think Tony will get his and when he does I think history is going to look upon him, look at his career, and say that, hey, he was one hell of a quarterback.”
Before the Cowboy’s start talking about collecting rings and winning Super Bowls, Dallas needs to start winning more games on the road and this weekend’s tilt will certainly be a difficult one. The Cowboys are dealing with a lot of injuries this season and with the possibility of play-makers like DeMarcus Ware and Miles Austin not suiting up won’t help out Dallas’ efforts either. Lions: 24-21
New York Giants (1-6) at Philadelphia Eagles (3-4): What’s weird about this Eagles team is that all of their wins this season have come on the road. So Philadelphia will be looking for their first home win this season, while the Giants are looking for their second win of the season.
After last week’s performance, it is clear that the only way the Philadelphia offense can operate successfully is if Michael Vick is at the helm. Luckily for the Eagles he’s back in the starting line-up after missing last week with a hamstring injury. Even after a victory over the Minnesota Vikings last Monday, the Giants still aren’t all that great and I believe with a the Eagles offense at full strength Philadelphia can run away with this game pretty quickly. Eagles: 38-20
New York Jets (4-3) at Cincinnati Bengals (5-2): Are the Jets for real? After taking it to the New England Patriots last week it is certainly a possibility. But, before I can officially declare the Jets a playoff threat this season I need to see them beat two good teams in back-to-back weeks. A win in Cincinnati against a very good Bengals team will be very impressive.
The match-up to watch is how the Jets take away Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green. Green is one of the league’s best wide receivers, giving Antonio Cromartie a very difficult job Sunday. If Cromartie can take away Green and the Jets are efficient on offense than they could come out with the upset. Bengals: 24-20
