NEW YORK, NY – The Super League is back underway which is great news for Rugby League fans in the UK and around the world. It is set to be another exciting season and with many new stars joining from the NRL, the standard continues to improve.

Here is a look at who are the most likely contenders for the Super League Grand Final in 2021.

St Helens Top Betting To Win Hat-Trick Of Titles

St Helens are vying for their third straight Grand Final success this season. They are 9/5 in the rugby betting with Royal Panda. The firm makes them the favourites as they have the best squad once again in 2021. Head coach Kristian Woolf has added Agnatius Paasi, Joel Thompson, and Sione Mata’utia from the NRL, while Dan Norman, a young player from London Broncos, has been recruited to add depth to the squad.

Saints were very dominant defensively in 2020, as they proved in the Grand Final last November at the KCOM Stadium when they limited Wigan Warriors to four points. They should be difficult to score against once again this season, which is why they are the team to beat once again.

Only Leeds have won three straight Grand Finals in the Super League era so it shows how difficult it is to dominate as the Saints have. Victory this year would suggest they are one of the best teams the league has ever seen.

Wigan Biggest Challengers To St Helens According To The Betting

Wigan topped the Super League standings following the regular season last year. They went into the playoffs as the number one seeds. Unfortunately for Adrian Lam’s side, they had no answer for St Helens’ impressive defence in the Grand Final.

Warriors are second best in the outright market this season at 217/100 with Royal Panda. The top two teams in the betting are some way clear of the rest of the league, which indicates many firms are expecting a repeat of the 2020 Grand Final this year.

Wigan has been boosted this season by the return of John Bateman. After a two-year spell in the NRL with Canberra Raiders, the England international is back in the Super League with the club he flourished with between 2014 and 2018.

The other notable signing Lam has made before Super League XXVI is that of Jai Field. The 23-year-old was set to move to Leeds last year but that transfer broke down. He is a player with a lot of potentials and is sure to be given the chance to shine by his new head coach this year.

Warrington Shouldn’t Be Underestimated

Warrington will enjoy the spotlight being on St Helens and Wigan this season as it takes the pressure off their shoulders somewhat. This is set to be Steve Price’s final year with Wolves before he returns to Australia. He will be hoping to go out with Grand Final success.

Price reached the Grand Final in 2018 with Warrington when they were beaten by Wigan 12-4. Since then, they have been beaten in their opening playoff game in 2019 and 2020. The outgoing head coach will be hoping they can handle the play-offs better this year. There is enough talent in this Warrington squad for them to win some silverware in 2021. Centre Greg Inglis signed for the club in the off-season. He has a wealth of experience in the NRL and his leadership could prove invaluable on the pitch, particularly in nervy play-off matches.

Warrington is 63/10 to win their first-ever Grand Final in what would be their fifth attempt if they reached the game this season.

This year’s Grand Final is set to return to its regular home, Old Trafford Manchester. It will take place on the 9th October, bringing a close to the 2021 season.
