This is the moment a hungry shark launches a terrifying attack against what it thinks is a baby seal, but is actually a decoy. These dramatic shots were caught by photographer Chris Brunskill at Sea Island, South Africa. The island plays home to around 64,000 Cape Fur Seals during the months of April to September. With such an abundant food supply close by, Great White Sharks patrol the seas around the island on the look out for young and inexperienced seal pups. And they get plenty of opportunity; in order to reach the open sea to feed the seals must first cross the shark-infested waters, or so called ‘ring of death’. The area is the only place in the world where sharks regularly leap out of the water to catch the seals swimming close to the surface.
