NFL Picks & News For Rugby Heads

BOSTON, MA – After a depressing 1-2 weekend for my picks, our record slipped further under .500 to 7-9. Maybe it’s because we’re predicting the hardest games each week… or picking with the heart instead of the head, I don’t know. But hope springs eternal, so here’s hoping for a perfect 3-0 this week with these stellar NFL Picks!

The core of the 49ers defense.

New England Patriots (3-2) at Seattle Seahawks (3-2): As good as the Patriots have been playing lately, it’s very hard to go in to CenturyLink Field and come out with a victory. The Seahawks have a very good pass rush that could pan out as the difference. In order for the Patriots to come out on top, they need to force rookie quarterback Russell Wilson to play like a rookie.
My Prediction: 28-20 Seahawks

New York Giants (3-2) at San Francisco 49ers (4-1): The 49ers have been playing some impressive football lately and are looking for revenge after last year’s NFC Championship game. This year 49ers quarterback Alex Smith is playing much better than last year and the defense is just as stout as ever. The Giants have too many injuries to win this one.
My Prediction: 24-14 49ers

Green Bay Packers (2-3) at Houston Texans (5-0): The Packers are reeling, really reeling. Their struggles come almost directly from the offensive line who is having trouble protecting last year’s MVP Aaron Rodgers.  And Green Bay is running into the wrong team at the wrong time; the Texans are flat out good. BUT… they just lost their defensive leader for the year in last week’s victory, Brian Cushing. This could just be enough to give the Packers the edge to win.
My Prediction: 35-31 Packers
