BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA – When it comes to rugby, Australia vs New Zealand is as good as it gets. And the global tension was real surrounding the Rugby World Cup took it one step further. We all know that result; the All Blacks won… for only the 2nd time… which only matchesthe success of fellow two-time RWC winners and rivals – the Wallabies.
But the war between these two nations doesn’t end with the RWC. Indeed, it takes place every year in the crisp, hard-hitting and bruising Bledisloe Cup. No one is spared – not even the members of the RWU Family. It gets ugly. And we’ve got it all on camera for you…
Here, Aussie correspondent and Australia Wallabies supporter, Bruce Bogan, nearly comes to blows with Kiwi host Johnathan Wicklow Barberie, a diehard New Zealand All Blacks fan.
As we said, JWB’s All Blacks won the RWC but Bruce Bogan(s) Wallabies had two Webb Ellis Trophies first – so the nations are tied in that department. And what better way to break that tie away from the RWC stage: The Bledisloe Cup. And that brings us to today’s Bledisloe Cup Finale – an 18-18 tie. A tie?! In this rivalry?! A tie between these two rugby heavy weights, in their annual crusade against each other, is like going to the dance and kissing your sister! Do you think Richard Loe would be happy with a tie? How about Dan Crowley? We’ve got two meat pies that says they wouldn’t. And you know what’s worse than a kissing-your-sister-tie??? An ugly sister. And if you ever saw our sisters, you’d know why watching Kurtley Beale and Dan Carter race to a dead-heat is simply unacceptable!
