TAMPA, FL – Following Saturday’s, 03 August wins in the South Conference (SC) semifinals, the Jacksonville Axemen and the Tampa Mayhem have advanced to won their ways to play in the USA Rugby League (USARL) SC Championship. With the 2019 SC’s top seed, Jacksonville will host the 2019 USARL SC Championship Saturday on the University of North Florida’s (UNF) Rugby Fields. Here it is, this week’s focus phrase, Axemen and Mayhem advance.

In game one, the Jacksonville Axemen clobbered the Southwest Florida (SWFL) Copperheads 68 to 0 on the UNF Rugby Fields.

Also, in USARL SC action, the Tampa Mayhem routed the Lakeland Renegades 68 to 6 at Tampa Catholic High School.

As previously mentioned, the Atlanta Rhinos withdrew from 2019 Post-Season play.

Jacksonville v. SWFL

Altogether, the Jacksonville Axemen scored twelve tries against the SWFL Copperheads. For Jacksonville, James Williams led his team in tries with three. Additionally, contributing to Jacksonville’s total points, Jye Montgomery, Josh Jackson, and Hunter Lawson each scored two tries.

Also, for the Axemen, David Thomas, David Washington, and Zac Brown the three remaining tries. Leading his club with 20 points, Nathan Richter successfully converted ten of Jacksonville’s twelve tries.

Tampa v. Lakeland

In total, the Tampa Mayhem scored 11 tries in the match-up against the Lakeland Renegades. For Tampa, Anthony Flores, Jon St. John, Ben Payne, and JL Hauser each scored two tries. Also, in action for the Mayhem, Josh Heath, Troy Chlasta, and Scotty Garren also contributed a try each toward Tampa’s total.

Additionally, for the Mayhem, Jay Kissick successfully converted eight of Tampa’s tries. Rounding up the Mayhem’s scoring, the referee awarded Tampa one penalty try (worth eight points) from a Lakeland error. Wrapping up, with the article’s focus phrase, the Axemen and Mayhem advance to the SC Final.

USARL SC Final Saturday in Jacksonville

This Saturday, 10 August, the Jacksonville Axemen will host the 2019 USARL SC Final. There, the traveling Tampa Mayhem will compete against the Axemen for the USARL SC Championship, on the UNF Rugby Fields.

Early in the season, Jacksonville blew past the Tampa Mayhem in Tampa 52 to 12. However, with the rematch at the end of the 2019 season, Jacksonville yielded a far closer 32 to 18 contest against Tampa. In fact, the 27 July game was Jacksonville’s only close game through its 2019 regularly-scheduled eight match-ups.
